Project Details
Belle Tire chose a pre-engineered steel building option for their 83,000 square foot warehouse expansion in Allen Park. Completed in summer of 2024 while the facility remained operational, this large addition to their existing headquarters building will help support their continued expansion in the Midwest. There were several challenges to this project that were identified and addressed during the preconstruction phase including:
- Contaminated Soil Removal: Approximately 20,000 tons of contaminated soil were meticulously removed from the site, ensuring environmental safety and compliance.
- Foundation Challenges: Due to poor subsurface conditions, the use of Geo Piers was necessary to provide a stable foundation, showcasing advanced engineering solutions.
- Storm Water Management: In adherence to city requirements, on-site underground storage for storm water was implemented.
- High Voltage Power Lines: The presence of high voltage power lines along the entire south side of the building necessitated careful planning and execution to maintain safety and uninterrupted power supply.
- Railroad Coordination: The installation of a retaining wall adjacent to the railroad required a high level of coordination with the railroad authorities, demonstrating our ability to manage complex logistical challenges.
- Fire Suppression System: Refurbishing the 200,000-gallon fire suppression water storage tank involved intricate coordination with the building owner and ongoing operations, ensuring the facility’s safety was never compromised.
This project is a testament to our expertise in handling large-scale construction challenges, effectiveness in preconstruction risk management, and delivering results efficiently and safely, even under demanding conditions.
